"Raphael works on a need-to-know basis. I needed to know. You, however, do not. Just suffice it to say, Christian needs you as much as you need him."
"I don't need anyone," D.J. interrupted.
Josie ignored her. "Falling into bed before you're in love will just make things worse for the both of you."
"I don't know if I agree with your reasoning, but I do know if I have to endure any more rejection, I just might swear off men for good." D.J. leaned her head back against the headboard. Her body had relaxed from its humming awareness while she spoke with Josie. She had even begun to enjoy herself. She had never had a sister, or a close girlfriend, or a mother to talk with. She'd always disparaged the idea of girl talk as an unnecessary waste of time for a woman who knew her own mind. It was easy to look down on something she'd never experienced. But after one hour of girl talk with Josie, D.J. could see its advantages. She felt a hell of a lot better than she had before. Though Josie could be a pain, D.J. liked her. She was at ease with the angel, as she'd never been with anyone else. Perhaps because no matter what she said, Josie wasn't leaving. Kind of like the unconditional love between parent and child that D.J. had read about in Psychology 101. That kind of assurance worked wonders on D.J.'s usual shyness in making friends. Josie appeared younger in years, but in her eyes and her voice lay a wisdom D.J. wished to explore further.
